I have been gardening for over twenty-five years and have made most of the mistakes you can make. But as long as I continue to work the soil I will continue to learn from my mistakes and for that matter from my successes.
I believe that everyone should know to grow their own food. Don’t let the convenience of the local super market fool you into thinking that you will always be able to buy two pounds of carrots and loaf of bread. Get some good skills together and while you are at it you will learn something new.
As any gardener will tell you having success in the garden only comes after a number of years of trial and error. Don’t wait to develop the skills you need to grow your own vegetables or to…… “can” tomatoes….. to ferment your own sauerkraut…… to dehydrate your own sun dried tomatoes.
Get ready to experience using all of your own herbs in the kitchen during the year. Learn how to save your carrots and onions for year round use….. and how to save seeds from your current crop so you never have to rely on store bought seeds again.
Contrary to popular belief you can not throw a few seeds in the ground and expect that God will do the rest. Growing your own vegetables in your own garden will be unlike anything you have ever done before. Commit to eat healthy home grown food all year long. (or at least for part of the year!)
I don’t have all the answers but I invite you to continue the journey I started many years ago.
The Cedar Garden Beds I make and sell are of the highest quality and I encourage you to take a look at them and see if they have a place in your vegetable garden.
Let’s get dirty in some raised bed gardens!
