Hello dirt people,
This is about seven weeks now and they look great. The only non-starter seeds were two pots that had Black Krims in them. I would remind you I always put down 2 seeds in each peat pot so to have neither come up is a bit weird but certainly not unheard of.
I recently cut the starter leaves off so that all of the energy now goes into the main leaves.
As I said out of the 30 tomato plants (seedlings) 2 never showed up! So that means I have 28 to choose from to plant. I will in all likelihood give the rest away to a customer.
News Flash: about two weeks ago I bought a grow light —-T5-four bulb. I have never used one in all the years I have been starting my own tomatoes and peppers plants but I have to say it is amazing. The grow is far better and the maintenance of turning the plants toward the window as they stretch for light is gone. The plants tangling up …. gone, as now they are reaching straight up toward the light.
I did make the mistake of leaving them on far to long (12 to 14 hours). That along with moist soil propagated algae growth. Now I leave the lights on no longer the 7 hours and most days it is 6ish. The plants under that “sun load” are doing just fine
